Board Bio's
Carol Powell
Ms. Powell brings a multi-discipline background to The Magical Child
Foundation. She has a unique blend of Human Resources, Payroll and
Information Technology management positions combined with over 10
years as a consultant.
Ms. Powell’s extensive experience includes all facets of project
management and program management. Her experience spans a variety
of industries; among them are utilities, telecom, leased employee,
manufacturing and government. She has a proven ability to manage
diverse, high-performing teams executing merger & acquisitions,
corporate re-structuring, multi-product software implementation,
new product development, new product roll-out and union negotiations.
Ms. Powell’s knowledge and experience spans all aspects of
Product Management from product inception to retirement. Her specialty
lies in IT products that support Human Resource and Payroll functions
for both in-house and service bureau models. She has worked with
several of the industry leading HR and Payroll management software
products during her career.
Ms. Powell earned her B.S. degree in Business/Economics from Regis
University.
Nancy Titus-Piersma
Nancy Titus-Piersma is adjunct instructor for Oklahoma State University,
where she teaches Personal Finance, Principles of Corporate Finance
and International Finance. She also serves as President of JDT and
Associates, a consulting and fine arts company. Prior to starting
this firm in 2004, Ms. Titus-Piersma served as Vice President, Global
Trade and Treasury Services for Bank One (now J.P. Morgan Chase)
for 14 years. In this capacity, she assisted multinational companies
by expanding their import and export trading capabilities through
a variety of banking services, including foreign currency loans,
letters of credit, foreign exchange options and export working capital.
Her clients ranged from a small import/export firm buying and selling
to Africa, to a multinational raising money on the London stock exchange
for Russian oil and gas ventures.
Prior to working with Bank One, Ms. Titus-Piersma obtained credit
training with First Republic Bank in Dallas, Texas. As a credit analyst,
she was responsible for a portfolio of loans including Mexican banks
(Banespa, Banco Nacional and others). She also performed credit analysis
on various Venezuelan state owned entities (PDVSA) and Korean multinationals
(Goldstar).
Ms. Titus-Piersma graduated from Thunderbird -- The Garvin School
of International Management in 1987, with a Master in International
Management. She obtained her B.A. in Political Science, Magna cum
Laude, from Hope College in 1982. She has studied French, is fluent
in Spanish and has lived and traveled extensively abroad. She is
married to Jack Titus, an Art Professor at Oklahoma State University
and has two daughters.
Beth Skye
Beth Skye is a producer and promoter. She has been a longtime supporter
of the mission of the Magical Child Foundation. In 1985 she joined
MCF as President to help promote it's global initiative Project Sworn
to F.U.N.
The purpose of Project Sworn to F.U.N. (Friends and Families Uniting
Neighborhoods and Nations) is to bring people around the world together
for a 24 hour event celebrating what we share in common.
During her tenure with MCF she produced a number of special events
including KidStock, an annual international youth event, to promote
greater cultural exchange and appreciation between young people and
as mini proto-types of the larger global event concept.
She is the President of Living Well Presents and is a columnist
writing articles on Living Well, both dedicated to opening doors
for expanding consciousness, love and respect.
She has been active as an animal welfare advocate and has a private
practice using bio-feedback for stress and pain relief for animals.
She is passionate about facilitating alliances between individuals
and/or organizations for the greater good.
Dr. Karla Peterson
Dr. Karla Peterson, is currently Chair of Business Administration
and Director of Entrepreneurship in the School of Business at East
Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. Dr. Peterson’s areas of
expertise include culture development, human resource planning and
motivating, strategic planning, and entrepreneurship. Dr. Peterson’s
work experience includes over twenty-five years of teaching, banking,
institutional research, and strategic planning. Her consulting experience
is in the areas of leadership development, employee relations, strategic
planning and corporate coaching. Dr. Peterson graduated from Moorhead
State University with a BS in Accounting, Central Michigan University
with an MS in Business Administration, and a Ph.D. from Capella University
in Organization and Management with a specialization in Leadership.
Dr. Peterson achieved Summa Cum Laude status at both her master’s
coursework and her doctoral coursework. Dr. Peterson’s dissertation
explored the relational benefits provided by angel investors to their
funded entrepreneurs. A paper based on her doctoral research was
accepted and presented at the highly prestigious Babson College Entrepreneurship
Research Conference in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Peterson is currently completing
an additional graduate degree, a master’s in accounting. Dr.
Peterson is a Fellow of Babson College; she has also attended University
of Oklahoma, University of Wisconsin, and completed numerous courses
and workshops throughout her professional career.
Dr. Peterson is fun, funny, focused, and future paced toward achieving
high quality results. She has the unique ability to listen, observe,
and then ask questions that are provocative, probing and penetrating.
She avoids giving a billion answers, because answers change. Instead
she harvests “forever questions” because questions are
the diamonds we hold to the light. Dr. Peterson understands that
a question steers us into our own answer. She also understands and
practices “shared leadership” and is a model Team Player.
Best of all, Dr. Peterson is creative, compassionate, and outrageously
devoted to excellence, animals, the environment, and family.
Dr. Sandra Williams
Dr. Sandra (pronounced Sondra) Williams stands with one foot in
art and the other in ag. A teacher, a national and international
award-winning writer, and a theatre artist since the age of 5, she
is now known on the Internet as the Mushroom Lady. Sandra and her
husband Douglass started growing shiitakes at Lost Creek Mushroom
Farm in 1986. They make and market grow-your-own shiitake mushroom
log kits and Redbud Gourmet Shiitake Soup and Dip Mixes (www.shiitakemushroomlog.com).
In 2007 Sandra and Doug volunteered as mushroom consultants for the
Farmer-to-Farmer Program, serving in Ghana, West Africa. In 2008,
Sandra started Mushrooms in Ghana Project, partnered by The Magical
Child Foundation, to help introduce shiitake mushroom log production
to Ghanaian mushroom farmers and protein-rich shiitakes to the protein-hungry
Ghanaian diet (www.mushroomsinghana.org). |
